After having lunch in a local private restaurant, you will visit the National School of Arts, one of the most outstanding icons of contemporary Cuban architecture and cradle of some of the most important Cuban artists. The school is located on the former grounds of Havana’s Country Club.

Day 4 Religion

Religion has become part of most Cubans’ daily lives. Today you will learn how the different religions in Cuba have developed and interact with each other, with special focus on the relations between Santeria and Catholicism in the country. This tour will begin in the famous ‘Callejon de Hamel’ street in Havana where you will have an explanation of Santeria and its history, followed by a visit to the house of a Santero (Santeria priest) to see the culture at first hand. You will then visit various other museums and churches around the city that demonstrate the connection between the two belief systems and their significance in Cuban society. A fascinating look at a lesser known aspect of Cuban culture, outside of the traditional tourist trail.

Day 6 Cuban Arts & Crafts

This last day you will visit Havana’s Arts and Crafts Market  where genuine local hand-made goods and paintings can be purchased. Artists or their representatives will supply the required official authorizations for export-controlled paintings. Private transfer to Jose Marti Havana International Airport for your outbound flight.

Recently the Cuban State authorized the emerging private sector to rent rooms on their houses, which represents the best opportunity for tourists to meet and stay with locals and learn about their lives.

The style and standards of a casa vary from house to house. Some are more similar to a homestay, with a shared house main entrance (with or without your own key) and private ensuite room. Many others, on the contrary, have a private entrance to their tourist accommodation; and there are others more akin to a boutique B&B with more slick operation.

That’s why privately owned rooms are our first proposition, but we can also offer upgrade options to hotels.

The included transportation will be a combination of private taxis and classic American cars. Food & Beverages Breakfast is included at hotels and most private houses.  Hotels’ non-included food and beverages can be purchased directly on the premises or the tour guide will be happy to suggest dining venues such as family owned and run restaurants (known as “paladares”) or State restaurants.  Dining and travel to and from those venues will be at clients’ own expense. We recommend that travelers have a bottle of mineral water when outside in hot weather conditions.

What’s not included?
