Time to unpack and refresh before going on a private guided walking tour of Old Havana (the time of the tour will depend on your arrival time in Havana).  Highlights include visiting the romantic plazas and Spanish colonial architecture. However, the major one is the experience of walking around the Cubans on their day by day routine. Drop into one or two of Hemmingway’s drinking haunts, especially the Floridita bar where he perfected the best Daiquiris’. There is a life-sized bronze statue of him sitting in his favorite bar stool. Return to hotel.

Day 2 Friday   Classic American Cars, Fidel Castro & Hemmingway

Breakfast at hotel.  This morning travel around Havana in an exclusive classic 50’s American car to include visiting the Plaza de la Revolution, where Fidel Castro made many of his famous speeches.  At the Plaza there are building-sized pictures of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos, who joined Fidel Castro during the guerrilla war against the Batista regime. You’ll also pass by the historic Nacional Hotel, drive along 5ta Avenida drive along 5ta Avenida (originally a homage to New York’s 5th Avenue) and head out to Miramar, once home to Havana’s high society. The mansions in this area are now often embassies or ambassador’s residences. The day will continue with a to former Hemmingway’s house, ‘Finca Vigia’, now a museum, and later to Cojimar, the fishermen’s village where Hemingway used to hang out and sail out from on his boat “Pilar” and boat captain Gregorio Fuentes, who was source of inspiration for one of the main characters of his novel ‘The Old Man and the Sea’. Lunch is included at the village restaurant where Hemmingway ate, wined and told fishing stories to locals. Return to hotel.

Day 3 Saturday   Hershey Chocolate & Buena Vista Social Club

Day 4 Sunday Arts & Crafts

Breakfast at the hotel. Today an Art’s specialist we will take you to some of the studios of the most renowned Cuban artists in Havana, where you will have the unique chance to speak with them about their lives, their work and their frequently controversial statements behind it.

A visit to Havana’s Arts and Crafts Market will follow, where genuine local hand-made goods and paintings can be purchased. Artists or their representatives will supply the required official authorizations for export-controlled paintings. Private transfer to Jose Marti International Airport for your outbound flight.

Recently the Cuban State authorized the emerging private sector to rent rooms on their houses, which represents the best opportunity for tourists to meet and stay with locals and learn about their lives.

The style and standards of a casa vary from house to house. Some are more similar to a homestay, with a shared house main entrance (with or without your own key) and private ensuite room. Many others, on the contrary, have a private entrance to their tourist accommodation; and there are others more akin to a boutique B&B with more slick operation.

That’s why privately owned rooms are our first proposition, but we can also offer upgrade options to hotels.

The included transportation will be a combination of private taxis and classic American cars.

Food & Beverages

Breakfast is included at hotels and most private houses.  Hotels’ non-included food and beverages can be purchased directly on the premises or the tour guide will be happy to suggest dining venues such as family owned and run restaurants (known as “paladares”) or State restaurants.  Dining and travel to and from those venues will be at clients’ own expense. We recommend that travelers have a bottle of mineral water when outside in hot weather conditions.
